Your Mission: What You’ll Do 🚀

As our new Backup Systems Engineer, you’ll be at the forefront of our data protection strategy. Your core mission is to provide specialized technical support and guidance, ensuring our backup solutions are robust and reliable.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Installation & Maintenance: You’ll install, monitor, test, and maintain a wide range of backup solutions.
• Troubleshooting & Support: You’ll be the go-to expert for high-level analysis, diagnosis, and problem-solving, both for internal teams and our clients.
• Continuous Improvement: You’ll drive service optimization, evaluate new products, and maintain technical standards and procedures.
• Customer & Vendor Relations: You’ll act as a key interface between BCX and our clients and third-party vendors, ensuring seamless collaboration and service delivery.
• Mentorship & Collaboration: You’ll support and mentor junior team members, sharing your expertise to help them grow.

Who We’re Looking For 🌟

The ideal candidate is an experienced professional with a strong background in enterprise data protection. You’re a self-starter who is detail-oriented and understands the importance of meeting customer expectations.

Here’s what you need to bring to the table:

• Experience: At least 2 years of experience in modern enterprise data protection in an operational capacity.
• Education: A Grade 12 National Diploma (NQF 4).
• Certifications: Valid certifications are a must. We are looking for candidates with expertise in technologies like Commvault, VEEAM, NetBackup, and IBM Spectrum Protect. Knowledge of VMWare, Linux, and Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) is also essential. Cloud certifications (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and experience with Python or PowerShell are a plus!
• Essential Traits: You must be a team player with excellent technical report writing skills and the ability to work under pressure. The role requires a driver’s license and the ability to be on standby and work extended hours when needed.
