System Supervisor (External Applications Only)
Location: Mqanduli, Eastern Cape, South Africa | Department: OPS 7
Description:
Responsible for managing and supervising all Point of Sale (POS) transactions to ensure total customer satisfaction. Oversee cash office operations, banking processes, and POS administrative functions in compliance with company standards.
Requirements:
- Grade 12 with at least 5 years of related experience, or 10 years of relevant work experience
- Proficient in English and the dominant local language
- Strong numerical and administrative skills
- Proven ability to deliver excellent customer service
- Able to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks
- Computer literate
- Previous cashier experience
Key Performance Areas:
Customer Service
- Process all speed point (credit and debit card) transactions accurately and efficiently
- Assist customers with requests, queries, and complaints, resolving or escalating when needed
- Provide fast, friendly, and professional service
- Communicate clearly and courteously with all customers
- Control and maintain availability of stationery and consumables in the store
Cash Handling and Banking
- Manage store floats, petty cash, and change floats
- Oversee change ordering and dispensing processes
- Record and balance petty cash expenses and vouchers in the ledger
- Process back-office transactions and cashier cash-ups (bulk deposits, returns, loyalty cards, etc.)
- Ensure validity and accuracy of returns
- Resolve cash clearance queries and ensure timely pick-ups
- Perform End of Day sessions and daily cash-ups for all POS terminals
- Supervise CIT (Cash-in-Transit) collections with a second authorized employee present
- Ensure daily takings are securely collected by the CIT company
Ready for Business
- Implement and maintain Ready for Business standards
- Ensure cashiers maintain cleanliness and order in their areas
- Keep the cash office neat, organized, and restricted to relevant documentation
- Ensure proper filing and up-to-date recordkeeping of all cash office documents
People Management
- Ensure all cashiers are present, available, and performing their duties
- Assign trained backups and manage scheduling, time off, and leave
- Supervise cashier performance and adherence to dress code
- Provide product knowledge training as agreed with the Store Manager
- Conduct performance evaluations and support staff development
Safety (OHSA) Requirements
- Ensure adherence to workplace safety standards and company policies
Security Awareness
- Stay alert to suspicious people or activities in and around the store
- Maintain password security and restrict access to the cash office
- Lock the cash office during pick-ups, cash-ups, and CIT collections
- Enforce proper handling of safe keys and prohibit unauthorized items in the cash office
