Job Opportunity: Experienced Survey Pilot at Woolpert Africa

Woolpert Africa, a leader in high-accuracy lidar and remote sensing, is seeking an experienced Survey Pilot to join its dynamic team in Johannesburg. This role is crucial for ensuring the accuracy and success of aerial data collection missions. The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated and skilled pilot who can operate with precision and collaborate effectively with on-board survey teams.


Key Responsibilities

As a Survey Pilot, you’ll be responsible for all aspects of a flight mission, from planning to post-flight logging. Your duties will include:

  • Flight Operations: Checking weather conditions, performing pre-flight checks, and operating the aircraft safely and economically.
  • Planning & Coordination: Collaborating with the aircraft systems engineer to optimize flight plans and liaising with air traffic control (ATC) and the technical crew.
  • Maintenance & Logging: Updating aircraft and personal logbooks daily, monitoring time to next planned maintenance, and booking the aircraft for service as needed.
  • Equipment Management: Ensuring all equipment meets the required modifications and is checked before and after each flight.

Qualifications and Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Experience: A minimum of 1000 total flying hours, 100 hours of Survey Experience, and 50 hours on the type of aircraft.
  • Licensing & Certification: You must hold a Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL) with a type rating, a valid radiotelephony license, and a Class 1 medical certificate. You also need current certification for Cockpit Resource Management (CRM), Dangerous Goods (DG), and Safety and Emergency Procedures (SEPT) training.
  • Physical Requirements: Must be willing and able to travel internationally for extended periods.
