The Role: Stoma Nurse and Educator

Coloplast has an exciting opportunity for a dedicated Stoma Care Nurse to join our South African clinical team. As a Registered Nurse, you will be the clinical expert, providing specialized pre- and post-operative services and comprehensive day-to-day management support for ostomates.

This role requires a self-driven individual who will serve as a vital Clinical Liaison and Educator for both internal and external stakeholders.

Major Areas of Accountability

1. Clinical Expertise and Liaison

• Patient Management: Provide clinical expertise in pre- and post-operative services and the day-to-day management of ostomates.
• Support Centres: Set up new support centres for end-users, expanding access to care.
• In-Hospital Support: Support in-hospital stoma clinics in collaboration with hospital-employed staff.
• Patient Advocacy: Act as a clinical liaison to ostomates regarding planned surgical procedures, the impact of living with a stoma, and ostomy care.

2. Education and Representation

• Educational Delivery: Deliver comprehensive, tailored education to a diverse group of internal and external customers, healthcare professionals, and end-users.
• Thought Leadership: Maintain professional credentials and education to uphold status as a clinical expert through board certification.
• External Representation: Attend approved national and regional conferences and tradeshows as a representative of Coloplast.
• Reporting: Report key clinical learnings, market intelligence, and opportunities back to senior leadership.

Essential Requirements

Qualifications and Experience

• Education: Must be a Registered Nurse with a Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Nursing.
• Experience: Minimum of 1+ years’ experience in a clinical setting working directly with patients and/or end-users.
• Industry Experience: Previous medical device industry experience is considered a strong asset.
• Location: Must permanently reside in the Johannesburg region and possess a valid Driver’s License.
• Travel: Ability and willingness to undertake required national and domestic travel.

• Communication: Effective written and presentation skills, with the ability to read, analyze, and interpret clinical publications.
• Adaptability: Proven ability to tailor training and education to serve varied audiences.
• Efficiency: Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
• Technical: Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
• Work Ethic: Must be self-driven with the ability to work independently to support internal and external customers.
