We are looking for a high-calibre Specialist: Storage Platforms to join our dynamic team in Bellville, Cape Town. This is a critical, hands-on technical role for an expert who lives and breathes SAN, NAS, and enterprise storage solutions. The Core Mission: Resilience, Performance, and Scale

As the Storage Platforms Specialist, you’ll be a key technical contributor, working closely with senior engineers and cross-functional teams to deploy, maintain, and optimize our enterprise storage and server solutions. You’ll be the expert ensuring our infrastructure supports our demanding business needs with maximum performance, reliability, and scalability.

Your Key Responsibilities Will Include:

• Expert Implementation & Support: Deliver expert-level support and implementation for our enterprise storage solutions, including Dell Networker, EMC Data Domain, and Dell storage arrays.
• SAN Environment Mastery: Maintain and optimize our SAN environments (Brocade & Cisco) and manage complex storage integration across multiple platforms like Windows, Red Hat Linux, AIX, and VMware.
• Stability & Optimization: Proactively monitor systems and use tools like DCA to apply patches, perform upgrades, and manage configuration changes, ensuring the stability, performance, and availability of all storage platforms.
• Operational Excellence: Maintain and improve operational documentation (runbooks, procedures), and contribute to the development of automation scripts and workflows to streamline operations.
• Compliance & Audit: Support compliance requirements (e.g., PCI, SOX) by ensuring proper controls, documentation, and reporting are in place.
• Collaboration & Demand Management: Work across teams (infrastructure, application, support) to resolve complex issues and manage all infrastructure requests via our Jira-based Infrastructure Demand System, ensuring services are delivered accurately and on time.

Are You the Specialist We’re Looking For?

This role requires a blend of deep technical skill, strategic thinking, and experience operating in a large, complex environment.

Key Requirements & Experience:

• Experience: A minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience is essential. Technical team lead experience is preferred.
• Education: Matric/Grade 12 is essential. A 3-year related degree or diploma in IT, Engineering, or Computer Science is preferred.
• Technical Proficiency is Expert-Level: Demonstrated hands-on experience with enterprise storage platforms, a deep understanding of storage architectures, protocols, and data protection strategies.
• Operational Mindset: Proven application of ITIL principles in an operational environment.
• SRE & Agile: Experience with Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices (proactive monitoring, automation, incident response) is highly desirable. Comfort working in a large, agile environment with multiple teams is necessary.
• Strategic & Collaborative: You must possess strong Advanced Troubleshooting skills, be skilled in Strategic Planning and Financial Acumen (capacity planning, roadmaps, vendor management), and have Effective Communication skills to engage both technical and business stakeholders.
