Are you a skilled Software Engineer with a passion for PLC programming and a knack for creating seamless simulation environments? NOV South Africa is looking for a talented professional to join our team in Gqeberha (formerly Port Elizabeth).
This is a unique opportunity to lead the delivery and setup of cutting-edge simulators for our automation packages, working with complex electrical and hydraulic systems. If you’re a hands-on problem-solver who thrives on the interaction between software and hardware, this is the role for you.
What You’ll Be Doing 💼
As a Software Engineer, you’ll be at the heart of our technical operations, ensuring our simulation and automation systems are configured and optimized to perfection.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- PLC and Network Configuration: You’ll be a master of Siemens S7 PLC software, configuring it for both simulation and real-world machine environments. You’ll also establish and optimize network configurations to enhance system performance.
- Simulation & System Development: You will fine-tune simulation performance, evaluate new system features, and provide crucial technical support to users.
- Troubleshooting & Documentation: You’ll use your expertise to debug simulations of electrical and hydraulic components and develop clear, comprehensive technical documentation for all your work.
Who We’re Looking For 🌟
The ideal candidate is a highly skilled engineer with a deep understanding of software-hardware interaction and a proven track record in a technical environment.
To succeed in this role, you should have:
- Education: A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. Advanced technical certifications are a definite plus.
- Technical Skills: Advanced knowledge of PLC software (especially Siemens S7), strong skills in network configuration, and proven expertise in simulation software development.
- Experience: Proficiency in debugging simulations and a deep understanding of software-hardware interaction.
- Physical Ability: The ability to work in a technical laboratory or workshop environment with complex systems and equipment.
