Job Alert: Site Electrical Supervisor (RP) – Emalahleni, Mpumalanga
Are you an experienced Electrical Supervisor with a strong background in construction, specifically within the Oil, Gas, and Power sector? Do you hold a Responsible Person (RP) authorization and are ready to lead on-site operations? We are seeking a dynamic Site Electrical Supervisor (RP) to join our team for a 9-month contract based in Emalahleni, Mpumalanga.
This is a fantastic opportunity to play a pivotal role in coordinating and integrating site construction activities, ensuring compliance with all standards, and contributing to the successful delivery of critical projects.
About the Role:
As the Site Electrical Supervisor (RP), you will have overall responsibility for coordinating and integrating construction activities on site for designated areas, under the guidance of the Construction Manager. This site-based role demands a hands-on approach, with the majority of your time spent on-site managing subcontractors, tracking project progress, and ensuring all construction activities align with project baselines and agreements. A key aspect of this role involves the application of ESKOM standards with regards to HV and other regulations, overseeing functions as an ESKOM Responsible Person.
Key Performance Areas:
- Construction Delivery: Manage and coordinate subcontractors across assigned site areas, ensuring execution according to strategies and plans. Track progress, manage material distribution, coordinate commissioning activities, and oversee quality assurance, including NCR close-out.
- Health, Safety, Environmental & Quality Compliance: Champion on-site safety by ensuring staff and contractor compliance with Health and Safety policies and plans. Conduct regular site walkabouts, implement Environmental Management Plan requirements, and serve as the Responsible Person under OHSA for Permit to Work procedures. Maintain high quality control standards.
- Project Administration & Documentation: Complete essential project documentation, manage subcontractor construction documentation, maintain relations with local external organizations, manage contractor instructions, input into subcontractor payment claims, and prepare final handover packages.
- Stakeholder Management: Implement Project Industrial Relations Policy, establish clear job descriptions for site personnel, attend relevant site and project coordination meetings, and manage interfaces (permits, shutdown requirements, operational impacts).
- Responsible Person Functions: Apply and oversee compliance with ESKOM standards regarding High Voltage (HV) and other regulations as an ESKOM Responsible Person (RP).
Who We’re Looking For:
Minimum Experience: Mid-Senior Level
Qualifications & Experience:
- Essential: Completed Responsible Person (RP) course/authorization.
- Technical Background:
- Artisan/Technician (National Certificate) with 5 years of related experience, including quality assurance principles, OR
- Technician (Engineering Diploma – ND) with 3 years of related experience, including quality assurance principles.
- Safety Training: OHSA and Construction Regulations training.
- Professional Aspirations: Eligibility to become a PR CM (Professionally Registered Construction Manager) is a strong advantage.
- Site Experience: Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Construction Supervisor or in a related role, with extensive practical site construction experience.
Key Competencies:
- Knowledge: In-depth understanding of quality control and assurance principles, construction regulations (OHSA), environmental management systems, and health and safety management in construction environments.
- Skills: Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Aconex), understanding of ERP systems (IFS advantageous), document control, progress measurement, risk assessment, subcontractor management, resource planning, KPI management, strong team leadership, conflict resolution, excellent written and verbal communication, and effective meeting facilitation.
- Behaviours: Strong leadership, exceptional interpersonal skills, ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders, results-driven with a strong focus on meeting deadlines, adaptable to changing requirements, strong problem-solving abilities, meticulous attention to detail, and unwavering professional integrity.
