The SARS Innovation Incubator is at the heart of our strategic planning and modernization efforts. We’re looking for a highly skilled Senior Specialist in Engineering (Innovation and Solutioning) to join our dynamic team. This is a chance to work on strategic enterprise solutions and modernization initiatives that will redefine our organization’s future.

What You’ll Do: Your Key Responsibilities

As a Senior Specialist, you will be a leader in driving the adoption of new, cutting-edge concepts to support our Vision 2024 enterprise strategy. Your role is a blend of research, design, and implementation.

• Drive Innovation: You will conduct local and international research and benchmarking, develop foresighting reports, and draft idea pitches. You’ll analyze complex business problems and design “game-changer” solutions from the ground up.
• Lead Solutioning: You’ll build relationships with business owners and stakeholders to draft and socialize modernization strategies with a 5-10-year horizon. You’ll collaborate on detailed designs, build and test prototypes, and track the benefits of your solutions.
• Ensure Governance and Compliance: You will implement and provide input into the development of governance, compliance, and ethics processes within your area of specialization.
• Collaborate and Mentor: You’ll work with a diverse range of stakeholders and partners, providing expert advice and support to ensure the successful implementation of new designs.

Who We’re Looking For: Skills and Experience

The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with a strong technical background and a proven track record of driving excellence.

• Minimum Qualification: An Honours / Postgraduate Diploma (NQF 8) in Industrial Engineering or Computer Science is required. Alternatively, a relevant Bachelor’s degree / Advanced Diploma (NQF 7) in a similar field with significant experience will also be considered.
• Experience: You should have 10-12 years of experience in an innovation, design, and technology environment, with 3-4 years at a specialist level.
• Key Skills: We’re looking for expertise in strategic planning, problem analysis, and business acumen. You should be proficient in understanding and interpreting functional policies and procedures and possess excellent communication and influencing skills.
• Competencies: We’re looking for a professional with a high degree of honesty and integrity, strong problem-solving and conceptual thinking abilities, and a drive to influence others and achieve excellence.
