We are currently seeking a Senior Android Software Engineer to join our dynamic mobile engineering team. This is a key technical leadership role for an experienced Android developer who excels in designing scalable solutions and mentoring others to deliver world-class digital experiences.

Role Overview
As a Senior Android Software Engineer, you will lead the full development lifecycle of Android applications — from design and implementation to deployment and maintenance. You’ll play a crucial part in defining architecture, ensuring performance and scalability, and guiding the engineering team to deliver premium mobile experiences for Old Mutual’s customers.
Key Responsibilities
Android Development
- Lead the complete lifecycle of Android app development — from design and coding to deployment and optimization.
- Ensure high standards of app performance, reliability, and usability.
Jetpack Compose
- Develop modern, responsive, and intuitive interfaces using Jetpack Compose.
- Collaborate with designers to deliver seamless user experiences aligned with Material Design principles.
Architecture & System Design
- Drive architectural decisions following MVVM and Clean Architecture principles.
- Maintain modular, testable, and maintainable codebases.
Frameworks & Libraries
- Apply best practices using Coroutines, Hilt, and other Android Jetpack libraries to enhance performance and maintainability.
Version Control
- Oversee code management with Git, ensuring adherence to collaborative development practices (branching, pull requests, code reviews).
API Integration
- Integrate RESTful APIs and third-party services securely and efficiently.
- Maintain data integrity and system reliability.
DevOps & Deployment
- Implement and optimize CI/CD pipelines.
- Manage builds using Gradle and deploy apps to the Google Play Store and internal platforms such as Hawaii App Galaxy.
Mentorship & Leadership
- Guide, mentor, and inspire junior and mid-level engineers.
- Foster a culture of learning, collaboration, and technical innovation.
Gradle Expertise
- Create and manage custom Gradle tasks using Kotlin DSL to streamline build processes and improve productivity.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 8+ years of professional Android development experience.
- Strong proficiency in Kotlin and Java.
- Deep knowledge of Coroutines, Flows, and modern Android architecture components.
- Proven track record of delivering production-grade Android apps.
- Expertise in Jetpack Compose, Material Design, and UI best practices.
- Experience with modularized architecture and Azure cloud services.
- Strong problem-solving, debugging, and performance optimization skills.
- Leadership and mentorship experience within development teams.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
- Passion for continuous learning and staying ahead in Android technologies.
