Job Opportunity: Senior Quality Control Advisor – Cape Town, Western Cape
Are you a highly experienced and strategic quality professional with a strong background in engineering and a passion for continuous improvement? Lesedi, a leader in the Mechanical or Industrial Engineering sector, is looking for a Senior Quality Control Advisor to join our team on a permanent basis in Cape Town, Western Cape.
This is a pivotal role where you’ll provide strategic support to management across all Lesedi divisions, driving quality assurance and quality control initiatives, and ensuring our operations consistently meet the highest standards.
About the Role:
As a Senior Quality Control Advisor, you will be a technical expert with exceptional communication skills, guiding management on critical technical matters. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure that all work performed by Lesedi and its subcontractors rigorously conforms to customer requirements, relevant codes, industry standards, and stringent safety regulations.
Beyond technical oversight, this role involves significant administrative oversight of functional activities. You will be instrumental in managing IMS governance documentation, overseeing supplier monitoring programs, driving project surveillance, and leading quality training initiatives. You will play a crucial role in maintaining our compliance portfolios and championing continuous improvement across the entire organization.
Key Performance Areas:
- Compliance Portfolio Management: Establish and maintain IMS Governance documentation for Project Quality Control and Assurance. Manage external audit schedules, prepare for certifications, surveillance, and audits, and oversee corrective action implementation for audit findings.
- Supplier and Contractor Oversight: Develop and implement comprehensive Supplier Monitoring programs (onboarding and assessments). Maintain Quality Supplier Monitoring databases, deliver quality training for suppliers and subcontractors, provide remediation for sub-standard work, and manage project surveillance programs across all Lesedi divisions.
- Project Support and Monitoring: Support Project Management in handling client audits, enforce standardization of quality requirements across all work sites, and identify opportunities for improvement. Perform post-work reviews, raise Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), and prepare Project Quality Plans (PQPs), Project Management Plans (PMPs), and Quality Control Plans (QCPs) for tender submissions.
- Customer Satisfaction Management: Analyze external customer satisfaction feedback, provide improvement recommendations, conduct supplier/contractor NCR analyses, develop quality trend reports, and monitor key quality performance indicators.
Who We’re Looking For:
Minimum Experience: Mid-Senior Level
Qualifications:
- Essential: Advanced Diploma/Degree or equivalent in Engineering.
- Advantageous: Professional registration with SAATCA or equivalent.
Experience (Minimum 7 years essential):
- Proven experience in EPC (Engineering, Procurement, Construction) within technical or project quality assurance/control roles.
- Demonstrated track record of successfully training and implementing company strategies.
- Experience in system and/or process auditing, including developing audit programs.
- Experience in developing quality key performance indicators and producing quality trend reports related to supplier performance.
- Multi-disciplinary engineering, procurement, and construction industry experience.
- Advantageous: Nuclear industry experience with applicable standards, codes, regulations, and practices.
Key Competencies:
- Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of managerial principles, deep knowledge of ISO 9001 principles (RD-0034 and ASME NQA-01 advantageous), ISO 19011 auditing principles, Engineering/Procurement/Construction, and Project Management fundamentals (including PMBOK, contract management, planning). Knowledge of nuclear industry standards is a plus. Proficiency in Electronic Document and Record Management Systems (EDRMS).
- Skills: Strong strategic thinking and conceptual analysis, advanced proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat, clear and effective communication, strong technical competence, problem-solving, performance measurement, progress monitoring, and stakeholder relationship management.
- Behaviors: Demonstrates technical, interpersonal, and conceptual skills as a subject matter expert. Possesses high integrity, self-motivation, personal accountability, strong conceptual thinking, articulates organizational vision and values, is an excellent team player, proactive in anticipating opportunities/threats, methodical, exceptionally detail-oriented, portrays an exemplary Health & Safety culture, and is diligent and conscientious.
