Are you a highly skilled and proactive network professional with a passion for building and maintaining robust IT infrastructure? A well-established business in Cape Town is looking for a dedicated Senior Network Administrator to join their team. This is a permanent position where you will be instrumental in managing, securing, and optimizing a complex network environment.

What You’ll Do

As a Senior Network Administrator, you’ll be the technical backbone of the company’s network. Your role will involve more than just maintenance; you will be a key player in designing, securing, and supporting the entire network infrastructure.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Network Management: Take the lead on network infrastructure, from monitoring and proactive problem-solving to ensuring all systems are running smoothly.
• Security and Support: Implement and update network security services, configure and manage firewalls, and respond to network and IT issues with a strategic, proactive approach.
• Technical Expertise: Use your knowledge of operating systems (Windows, Linux, OS X) and virtual environments (KVM, Proxmox, Docker) to interpret and update network designs.
• Documentation and Compliance: Document network architecture at various OSI levels and ensure all work adheres to ITIL frameworks and best practices.

Who We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate is a seasoned professional with a strong technical background and a proven ability to manage complex networks and lead with confidence.

Essential Qualifications and Experience:

• Education: A National Diploma in Engineering/Information Technology with at least 5 years of experience, or a B.Eng/B.Sc Hons (Comp Sci/Engineering) with at least 3 years of experience.
• Experience: Extensive experience as a technical resource on network infrastructure, with a strong background in network operations, service support, and working with helpdesk systems.
• Skills: In-depth knowledge of networking in virtual and containerized environments, network security best practices, and Identity and Access Management (IAM).
• Attributes: We are looking for someone who is proactive, detail-oriented, and has excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage the entire lifecycle of networking equipment.
