Job Overview
The Sales Manager will lead and coordinate the organization’s sales function to meet business objectives. This role involves managing a large team of advisors, developing and maintaining client relationships, and driving demand for Old Mutual’s financial products and services.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership and Direction
- Implement the sales function’s strategy and business plan in alignment with Old Mutual’s mission and values.
- Motivate and guide the sales team to achieve exceptional performance and meet business goals.
Customer Relationship Management / Account Management
- Develop and execute relationship management plans for complex existing customer accounts.
- Build and maintain strong connections with key decision-makers and influencers within client organizations.
- Ensure continuous communication and issue resolution to maintain customer satisfaction.
Sales and Business Development
- Configure complex product and service solutions that meet long-term client needs.
- Present and negotiate sales proposals within approved parameters.
- Support team members in closing strategic deals and managing key accounts.
Sales Opportunities Creation
- Build a professional network within the financial services sector.
- Represent Old Mutual at industry events to gather market intelligence and promote the organization’s reputation.
Performance Management
- Manage and monitor a diverse sales team’s performance.
- Set performance goals, provide feedback, and ensure accountability.
Operations and Customer Focus
- Oversee operational activities within the department.
- Collaborate with other internal teams to improve customer experience and service delivery.
Key Account Management
- Manage important client relationships, including mid-tier companies and multinational organizations.
- Deliver consistent, high-quality customer support and maintain long-term partnerships.
Budgeting and Reporting
- Develop and manage departmental budgets with guidance from senior management.
- Report on sales performance, market trends, and business development outcomes.
Organizational Capability Building
- Identify and address team training needs to enhance professional growth and capability.
- Mentor and coach team members to drive performance excellence.
