Job Overview

PepsiCo, a global leader in beverages and convenient foods and driven by its pep+ sustainability vision, is seeking an experienced and dynamic Sales Manager to join the Britos Bakery division in Port Elizabeth.

This critical role is responsible for the overall supervision, performance, and strategic maintenance of the Van Sales Representatives’ activities. The primary objective is to drive maximum profitability and growth in line with the organization’s strategic plans.

Key Accountabilities

The Sales Manager will lead performance across five strategic pillars:

1. Sales Management & Profitability

  • Strategy & Planning: Formulate and manage comprehensive sales plans, including volume targets, pricing, and promotional strategies.
  • Commercial Negotiation: Negotiate and manage pricing, promotions, services, and special deals with customers.
  • Control & Analysis: Analyze sales forecasts and competitor activities. Control working capital items, such as debtors’ days and product returns.
  • Asset Management: Manage promotional assets and equipment efficiently.
  • Performance Oversight: Manage the performance of internal, third-party, and agent teams.
  • Customer Relations: Proactively manage and support key customer relationships.

2. People Growth & Development

  • Team Leadership: Manage the performance, growth, and development of the immediate team.
  • Talent Management: Formally manage the talent plan for the team, drive mentorship, and ensure the team achieves functional value.
  • Structure: Formalize and maintain an optimal department structure.

3. Systems, Procedures, and Practices

  • Governance & Compliance: Maintain functional governance, ensuring alignment with policy, legal, and ethical frameworks.
  • Operational Implementation: Implement functional plans, projects, and best practices.
  • Technology: Effectively utilize SAP functionality for reporting and resource management.

4. Relationship Results

  • Stakeholder Management: Maintain strong external stakeholder relations, including unions.
  • Networking: Establish and utilize a robust functional network, including service providers.
  • Collaboration: Maintain excellent interdepartmental relations to ensure internal ‘customer’ satisfaction.

5. Innovation and Improvement

  • Change Leadership: Manage internal change processes effectively.
  • Continuous Improvement: Initiate and drive continuous improvement initiatives across sales operations.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education: A Degree or Diploma in Business, Commercial fields, or an equivalent qualification is required.
  • Experience: 5 to 6 years of relevant working experience within the FMCG (Fast-Moving Consumer Goods) environment.
  • License: A valid driver’s license.
