Main Purpose of the Job
Responsible for overseeing the regional technical team and managing, improving, and optimising technical operations within the region. This role ensures the alignment of strategies across functional areas through leadership, guidance, and performance monitoring. The position also focuses on implementing and maintaining policies and procedures that support organisational goals.

As the management representative for corporate governance, the incumbent upholds quality management, continuous improvement, and occupational health and safety standards for engineering functions. The primary goal is to ensure continuous functionality of all hospital equipment, buildings, plants, and technical services across the region—maintaining them in optimal condition in a cost-effective manner.

Education Requirements
Essential:

• NQF Level 6 or 7 qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
• Thermodynamics and Electro Technology completed at 2nd-year level

Desired:

• Tertiary qualification in Business Management or Leadership

Certification Requirements
Essential:

• Valid driver’s license and reliable transport

Experience Requirements
Essential:

• NQF Level 6 with a minimum of 15 years’ post-graduate engineering experience including HVAC and auxiliary electrical power supply exposure, or
• NQF Level 7 with a minimum of 10 years’ post-graduate engineering experience with HVAC and auxiliary electrical power supply exposure

Desired:

• 6 years’ experience within a facility management environment

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee Technical Operations of hospitals within the region
• Provide technical support to Operational Executives and hospital teams
• Drive quality management and continuous improvement initiatives
• Manage and mitigate technical operational risks within the region
• Maintain strong stakeholder relations and deliver excellent client service
• Lead and develop the regional technical team
• Oversee and control regional technical budgets and financial planning

• Financial management and budgeting principles
• Project management expertise
• Competence as per OHS Act 85 of 1993 (General Machinery Regulations)
• Quality management and preventative maintenance
• Fault finding and troubleshooting skills
• Report writing and effective communication (verbal & written)
• Knowledge of operational standards (e.g. LEAN principles)
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite
• Ability to use mechanical tools and machinery
