About the Role

Dis-Chem Pharmacies is seeking the services of a reputable Pharmacist for its Durbanville branch. The role involves providing professional pharmaceutical care, ensuring patients’ medicine-related needs are met responsibly and efficiently, and maintaining compliance with legal and ethical standards.

Minimum Requirements

Essential:

• Grade 12 / Matric
• BPharm or equivalent qualification
• Registered with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC)
• 2–3 years’ experience in a pharmaceutical environment
• Retail pharmacy experience (Student/Intern)
• Computer literate – MS Office

Advantageous:

• Retail / FMCG experience
• SAP, E-scripting, and Unisolv experience
• Registered tutor status
• Proficiency in a third language

Key Responsibilities

• Provide pharmaceutical care by evaluating patients’ medicine-related needs, ensuring appropriate therapy, safety, and effectiveness.
• Dispense medicines as prescribed and ensure accuracy in prescriptions and dosages.
• Offer advice and education to patients on medicine usage and potential interactions.
• Manage stock control, including ordering, storage, and record-keeping of scheduled substances.
• Ensure compliance with the Medicines Act, Pharmacy Act, and Good Pharmacy Practice (GPP) standards.
• Assist with the preparation of claims for medical aids and manage rejected scripts.
• Support the Dispensary Manager with administration, reporting, and stock-taking.
• Provide excellent customer service at the dispensary and front-shop counters.
• Uphold Dis-Chem’s housekeeping, health, and safety standards.
