Ampath Laboratories is seeking a skilled Medical Laboratory Scientist to join the Clinical Pathology team in Cape Town. In this role, you’ll play a vital part in delivering accurate and timely diagnostic results that directly support critical healthcare decisions. Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor of Health Sciences in Medical Laboratory Science (BSc MLS)
• Registration with the HPCSA as a Medical Laboratory Scientist in Clinical Pathology
• 1–2 years of experience in a pathology laboratory environment

• Strong technical and analytical skills with attention to accuracy
• Proficiency in computer systems used in laboratory operations and data analysis
• Excellent communication skills in English and Afrikaans
• Sound numerical reasoning and data interpretation abilities
• Collaborative mindset with the ability to contribute positively to team dynamics

Responsibilities

• Process clinical specimens accurately and efficiently in accordance with established protocols
• Ensure timely and reliable diagnostic results that support patient care decisions
• Maintain quality assurance and compliance with accreditation standards
• Monitor stock levels and ensure readiness of laboratory materials and reagents
• Support training and mentorship of learner scientists
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and stay informed about emerging laboratory technologies
• Engage with clients professionally to uphold Ampath’s reputation for reliability and excellence
