The Opportunity

The OK Franchise Division, a strategic pillar of the Shoprite Group, encompasses over 500 franchise members across various brands. As the Group seeks to become Africa’s preferred Franchise Supermarket, Convenience, Liquor, and Wholesale provider, the need for robust and accurate data management is paramount.

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Master Data Officer to join our team. This role serves as the crucial first line of support for our Divisional and Home Office teams, focusing on the administration and integrity of all Master Data within our core Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems (specifically SAP / Arch). The Master Data Officer will ensure all teams can process and transact information accurately and efficiently, while upholding strict data governance standards in a highly competitive and dynamic retail environment.

Key Performance Areas (Job Objectives)

I. Data Administration and Article Management

• Article Lifecycle Management: Propose new articles and actively monitor their creation progress to ensure alignment with established Service Level Agreements (SLAs).

• Article Assignment: Ensure the accurate and logical assignment of all articles to specific geographic regions and OK Banners to maximize usability and system optimization.

• Duplicate Prevention: Conduct thorough verification checks to prevent the listing of duplicate or similar articles before final system creation.

• Stock Balance Monitoring: Proactively assist in monitoring stock balances as required by data integrity protocols.

II. Data Quality Assurance and Governance

• Quality Monitoring: Detect, log, and flag data quality issues and any systemic abnormalities to maintain the high standards of consistency and reliability required by the Shoprite Group.

• Governance Adherence: Uphold all data business governance policies and rules to support efficient operational processes.

• Continuous Improvement: Identify the root causes of quality non-conformance and collaborate with stakeholders to implement best practices for enhanced data management.

III. Support, Reporting, and Incident Management

• First-Line Support: Act as the primary technical and data support contact for divisional offices, addressing support-related requirements promptly to facilitate seamless business transactions.

• Reporting: Extract and generate crucial transactional reports (daily, weekly, and monthly) for Home Office Buyers to support tactical and strategic decision-making.

• Incident Resolution: Log IT and data-related incidents using the correct platform and assist in identifying and resolving business data quality issues to minimize operational disruptions.

• Project Support: Provide dedicated support for data-related projects throughout their entire lifecycle, including successful implementation and post-go-live assistance.
