Beyond the Box: Training the Workforce of Tomorrow’s Warehouses

In the world of logistics, a warehouse isn’t just a building where goods are stored; it’s a dynamic hub of activity powered by a skilled and efficient workforce. Ensuring that staff operates safely and effectively is the mission of a Logistics Trainer. This isn’t just a job; it’s a critical role for someone passionate about helping people learn and grow. .

This position, based in Atlas, Johannesburg, is a 12-month contract opportunity for a professional who can blend a strong understanding of warehouse operations with a knack for effective training and development.

What a Logistics Trainer Does

A Logistics Trainer is a vital part of a company’s operations, focusing on continuous improvement and employee development. Key responsibilities include:

  • Creating and Updating Training Materials: You’ll research, develop, and update training materials, focusing on process improvements, safety protocols, and operational efficiency.
  • Delivering Training: You’ll be on the floor, delivering hands-on, classroom, and on-the-job training sessions. This includes teaching technical skills as well as “soft skills” to help employees at all levels develop.
  • Mentorship and Coaching: A key part of the role is organizing and supporting training champions, coaches, and mentors who help new employees integrate and improve their performance.
  • Problem-Solving and Improvement: You’ll use your expertise to troubleshoot operational issues, solve problems, and even initiate and implement successful Kaizen projects—a Japanese philosophy of continuous improvement.

Is This the Right Role for You?

This contract position is a great fit for an individual with a strong personality and excellent communication skills. The ideal candidate will have:

  • A NQF Level 5 (240 credits on level 8 framework) qualification in Training & Higher Education, Industrial Psychology, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in delivering classroom training, preferably with “Shop Floor” or “Dojo” training experience.
  • A solid background in warehousing and operations.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and Excel and the ability to perform complex calculations for planning and resource allocation.
  • Strong competencies in planning and organizing, problem-solving, and working in a team.

If you’re ready to make a significant impact on a company’s efficiency and help people reach their full potential, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.
