About the Role
Are you a motivated IT professional with a keen interest in IT security, audit, and compliance? A leading financial services organization in Durban is seeking an IT Security Assistant to join their dynamic IT Security team.
This role provides an exciting opportunity to grow your expertise in a financial services environment, contributing to IT risk management, regulatory compliance, and security initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
🔒 IT Audit & Risk Management
- Coordinate and support internal and external IT audits, including planning, walkthroughs, and evidence gathering.
- Track audit findings and risk treatment plans through to resolution.
- Participate in IT risk assessments and recommend control improvements.
📄 Policy & Compliance Support
- Draft, update, and maintain IT policies, procedures, standards, and guidelines.
- Assist with regulatory submissions and compliance questionnaires (POPIA, ISO, COBIT).
- Prepare audit reports, executive summaries, and readiness metrics for management.
🖥️ Security Monitoring & Remediation
- Support monitoring of security alerts, incidents, vulnerabilities, and system logs.
- Facilitate remediation activities and liaise with technical teams to ensure timely closure of audit points.
- Promote user awareness training and security best practices across the organization.
Requirements
✅ Qualification: National Diploma or Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
✅ Experience: 2–3 years in IT audit, risk management, IT compliance, or GRC roles; banking or financial services experience is a plus.
✅ Certifications (Preferred): CISA, CRISC, CGEIT, ISO 27001 Lead Implementer/Auditor.
✅ Skills & Knowledge:
- IT General Controls (ITGC), risk frameworks, audit methodologies.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and reporting tools (e.g., Power BI).
- Familiarity with ITSM tools, GRC platforms, and regulatory environments (SARB, FSCA).
- Understanding of governance frameworks: COBIT, ITIL, NIST, TOGAF, ISO/IEC 27001.
