A well-established financial services business is seeking a skilled and experienced Investment Principal to join their team in Johannesburg. This permanent position, located in the northern suburbs, offers a market-related salary and a unique opportunity to make a tangible difference in the Rural, Township and Community Development Fund department.

As the Investment Principal, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the implementation of key investment decisions. You’ll lead and mentor an investment team, guiding them through deal presentations and ensuring the successful execution of strategic initiatives.

Your Responsibilities Will Include:

  • Leadership and Strategy: You’ll manage your team and be responsible for creating a pipeline of development impact projects. You’ll also initiate and develop new business strategies to expand the fund’s reach.
  • Investment Management: You’ll appraise new investments, manage the due diligence process, and ensure that all deals are optimally structured from a financial, institutional, and legal standpoint.
  • Performance and Compliance: You will ensure the department meets its quarterly and annual targets for approvals, commitments, and disbursements. You’ll also be responsible for reviewing all disbursement files for completeness.
  • Innovation: You’ll be challenged to provide innovative and flexible financial structures for complex transactions.

Do You Have What It Takes?

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in finance and a passion for community development.

  • Education: A B. Com in Business Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Agricultural Economics is required. An Honours degree in one of these fields is a definite advantage.
  • Experience:
    • A minimum of 8 years of experience in a deal-making environment.
    • A minimum of 3 years of experience in people management.
    • At least 5 years of project investment exposure within a financial or investment setting.
  • Skills: Strong experience with due diligence analysis, financial modeling tools, and project management is essential. You should also have a proven ability to originate new projects and business plans.
