About the Role
Discovery Institute of Training is seeking a Senior Instructional Designer to develop high-quality training solutions and materials for the Discovery Bank portfolio. This role requires strong expertise in instructional design, project management, and stakeholder collaboration. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring all learning materials are aligned with Discovery’s standards, while constantly evaluating and improving the training cycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Apply the 6Ds methodology in the development of all learning solutions.
- Consult with stakeholders across relevant business areas to identify and address learning and development needs.
- Gather insights on Discovery Bank’s requirements and design comprehensive, fit-for-purpose curricula.
- Design and develop training materials and assessments for in-person and virtual workshops and induction programmes, ensuring learning outcomes are achieved.
- Create storyboards for digital content (e-learning, videos, podcasts, infographics, and animations) for the Multimedia Design team to produce.
- Collaborate with business areas to establish realistic project timelines and deliverables.
- Train and support facilitators to ensure effective delivery and achievement of learning outcomes.
- Maintain, review, and update training material regularly to ensure alignment with best practices.
- Evaluate both facilitator performance and material effectiveness.
- Translate complex product and technical information into clear, engaging learning content.
- Manage projects and initiatives within the instructional design team, ensuring proactive communication and adherence to deadlines.
- Apply project management skills and tools to plan, track, and deliver outputs effectively.
- Set and drive strategic portfolio goals and manage new learning initiatives.
- Lead, coach, and mentor a junior instructional designer to develop their skills and leadership potential.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Use data analytics to identify learning engagement trends and make impactful recommendations.
- Leverage AI tools to enhance instructional design processes and deliverables.

Experience & Qualifications
Essential:
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience as an Instructional Designer
- Proven leadership or managerial experience
- Project management experience
Advantageous:
- ODETDP qualification (Occupationally Directed Education, Training and Development Practitioner)
- Experience in the financial services or banking industry
- A business-related degree
