Job Purpose
SAAT is seeking a dedicated and experienced HSE Facilitator to coordinate, plan, and assess safety, health, and environmental competencies for our technical staff. This role is crucial in ensuring a safe workplace through the implementation and continuous improvement of a comprehensive training program.
Key Responsibilities
- Training and Development:
- Conduct training needs analysis and develop training schedules based on organizational requirements.
- Present and assess competency for a range of safety-related courses, including SHE representative training, accident/root cause analysis, and supervisor safety training.
- Provide instruction and assessment for technical courses, such as measurement instrumentation (e.g., confined space air monitors) and refresher training.
- Develop and conduct SHE induction courses and awareness campaigns on topics like noise and ergonomics.
- Program Management & Administration:
- Plan, coordinate, and manage all outsourced training within the allocated budget, including courses for first aid and firefighting.
- Maintain a robust training database and report data to corporate training management.
- Compile detailed management reports on training activities and outcomes.
- Compliance and Research:
- Communicate with regulatory authorities, such as SETA’s, to ensure safety training standards are met.
- Lead the research and development of new courses to address evolving training needs.
Qualifications & Experience
We are looking for a candidate who meets one of the following criteria:
- Option 1: A Grade 12 or equivalent with a minimum of 5 years of experience in the safety, occupational health, and environmental field. This must include completion of a Safety Management course (SAMTRAC), Environmental Management Legal Compliance Certificate, risk assessment course, accident/root cause investigation course, and a Train the Trainer course. The candidate must also be an accredited assessor (NQF Level 5).
- Option 2: A National Diploma in Safety Management or Environmental Health with a minimum of 3 years of experience. This must include an Environmental Management Legal Compliance Certificate, Safety Management course (SAMTRAC), risk assessment course, accident/root cause investigation course, and a Train the Trainer course. The candidate must also be an accredited assessor (NQF Level 5).

- Proficient in Microsoft Office (PC literate).
