About the Role

The Human Resources Officer will be responsible for providing HR support and guidance to managers and employees across the AFGRI Grain Management Services Division branches located in the Western Cape, Gauteng, Free State, KwaZulu-Natal, and Mpumalanga. The role covers key HR functions including recruitment, onboarding, training and development, performance management, employee wellness, and employee relations.


Minimum Requirements

Education/Training

  • Grade 12 Certificate
  • National Diploma or Degree in Human Resources Management or Business Administration (advantageous)

Work Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in HR Administration

Key Performance Areas

  • Facilitate approvals for new hires, prepare and issue employment offers/contracts, and manage onboarding packs
  • Process employee movements including transfers, promotions, salary adjustments, and terminations in SAP
  • Administer payroll inputs such as appointments, personal detail changes, and fixed-term contracts (seasonal workers)
  • Manage employee salaries and benefits in compliance with company policies
  • Resolve HR and payroll queries in a timely manner
  • Maintain and update employee records on SAP and Laserfiche
  • Ensure HR compliance and assist with audits by meeting all requirements and resolving queries
  • Support managers in disciplinary processes, draft charge sheets, and recommend corrective measures
  • Compile HR reports on headcount, recruitment, training, attendance, and leave

Technical Competencies

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent planning, organization, and attention to detail
  • Knowledge and experience with HRIS (SAP preferred)
