Job Advertisement: Fitness Instructor
Virgin Active South Africa (Pty) Ltd is looking for a passionate and dedicated Fitness Instructor to join our team at the The Atrium club in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal. This is a permanent, entry-level position where you will play a key role in inspiring people to live active lives.
About the Role
As a Fitness Instructor, your primary purpose is to inspire and support our members on their fitness journeys. You will be responsible for building strong relationships, promoting our world-class fitness offerings, and helping to increase member retention through effective inductions and engaging initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Member Engagement:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with members to promote retention.
- Conduct effective new member inductions and ongoing fitness initiatives.
- Promote Virgin Active’s ancillary products and services.
- Health & Safety:
- Ensure the health and safety of members at all times.
- Maintain a high level of operational and administrative adherence.
- Professional Development:
- Actively manage your own training and professional development to stay current with industry trends.
Minimum Requirements
- Education & Certifications:
- Matric qualification.
- An industry-recognized fitness qualification is essential.
- A valid First Aid qualification with AED certification.
- Experience:
- A minimum of 6 months of experience in the fitness industry.
- Experience in member or customer service.
- Skills & Attributes:
- A natural “people person” with strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to helping others.
- A strong, proactive mindset with a willingness to learn and grow.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- The ability to work independently and make quick, responsible decisions.
- A winning mentality and a drive to create “moments of magic” for our members.
- Other:
- Must be able to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
