Job Purpose

The eThekwini Municipality is seeking a highly skilled Financial Internal Auditor Specialist to provide specialised financial auditing services. This role is responsible for delivering independent, value-added technical audit assurance over the effectiveness of controls, mitigating high-risk areas, and enhancing Treasury and financial operations within the municipality.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement audit programmes and projects focusing on financial, technical, and Treasury activities.
• Provide specialist financial auditing input to support the municipality’s clean audit mandate and compliance with auditing standards.
• Contribute to the planning and execution of financial auditing projects aligned with the combined assurance audit programme.
• Disseminate operational and functional information on objectives, applications, and constraints.
• Support administrative and reporting requirements for key performance and result indicators within the financial auditing remit.
• Contribute to knowledge management and document control systems, including continuity and business recovery processes.

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree (NQF Level 7) in Financial Accounting or Auditing
• 3 years SAICA-accredited articles
• Valid motor vehicle driving license
• 6 years relevant experience in financial auditing
• Computer literacy

Preferred Requirements

• Postgraduate qualification (NQF Level 8) in Financial Accounting or Auditing
• Registration with a relevant professional body
• 7 years relevant experience in financial auditing

Remuneration and Benefits

💰 Total Remuneration Package: R1,256,750 – R1,603,022 per annum
