About the Role
Are you a strategic CA(SA) with a passion for driving financial excellence in a fast-paced, logistics-driven environment?
A market leader in temperature-controlled storage and logistics is seeking a Finance Executive to join their executive leadership team in Durban. This is a pivotal role for a finance professional with deep expertise in supply chain, warehousing, and distribution, particularly within perishables and the food & beverage sectors.
This position offers the opportunity to influence major operational and financial decisions, working within a private equity-backed company embarking on ambitious national growth and expansion initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
🧭 Strategic Financial Management
- Lead financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting.
- Develop and implement long-term financial strategies aligned with business growth.
⚙️ Operational Finance Oversight
- Manage the full finance function — general ledger, tax, statutory reporting, and cash flow.
- Ensure financial accuracy and compliance across all operational areas.
🚛 Logistics & Supply Chain Finance
- Deliver detailed financial analysis for warehousing (frozen, chilled, and ambient), transport, and port-clearing activities.
- Control and optimise cost structures across the supply chain.
📊 Reporting & Governance
- Ensure compliance with IFRS and maintain robust internal controls.
- Produce timely and accurate financial reports for executive and investor stakeholders.
👥 Leadership
- Lead and mentor a high-performing finance team.
- Foster a culture of accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement.
🤝 Stakeholder Engagement
- Serve as a key business partner to the Managing Director, executive leadership, and investors.
- Provide financial insights to guide strategic decision-making and operational execution.
Minimum Requirements
✅ Qualification: CA(SA) – mandatory
✅ Experience: At least 5+ years post-articles in a senior finance or executive role.
✅ Industry Expertise: Proven experience in Logistics, Supply Chain, Freight, or Cold Storage.
✅ Skills:
- Advanced financial modelling and analytical capabilities.
- Strong technical accounting proficiency and ERP system knowledge.
- Expert-level MS Excel skills.
✅ Leadership: Demonstrated success managing teams and influencing executive decisions.
