Executive Secretary Job Vacancy – eThekwini Municipality, Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, November 2025
The eThekwini Municipality is seeking an Executive Secretary to provide secretarial and organizational support to the Director and Deputy Heads within the Economic Development Department.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain diaries for the Director and Deputy Heads.
- Keep management informed of pertinent issues.
- Arrange workshops, meetings, conferences, and other gatherings.
- Coordinate travel and administrative arrangements for management.
- Type letters, reports, and other documents as instructed.
- Facilitate access and contact between management and staff.
- Maintain systems for incoming and outgoing mail.
- Undertake research and related assignments for the Director.

- Written and oral communication skills.
- Planning, organising, and influencing abilities.
- Attention to detail, ethics, and professionalism.
- Organisational awareness and use of technology.
- Data processing, interpersonal relationships, resilience, and cognitive ability.
Requirements
- Grade 12 (NQF Level 4) with an Administrative Certificate.
- Valid driver’s license.
- 2 years relevant experience.
- Computer literacy.
Preferred Requirements
- Diploma (NQF Level 6) in Secretarial Studies.
- 3 years relevant experience.
Benefits and Remuneration
- Housing subsidy, leave, medical aid, pension fund, 13th cheque.
- Annual salary: R232 438.20 – R301 728.48.
