The Opportunity: Executive Chef

The Executive Chef is the culinary leader responsible for all food production across our diverse outlets. This is a high-impact role that balances creativity, financial management, and hands-on supervision.

You will manage a dedicated team and oversee three crucial functional activities: supervision, food production, and administration.

Your core responsibilities will include:

  • Culinary Production: Leading all food production for the restaurant, conferences, banqueting, room service, and any other food outlets.
  • Menu & Recipe Development: Developing and creatively costing menus and recipes that appeal to our discerning clientele while maintaining profitability.
  • Quality & Compliance: Ensuring the highest professional food quality and sanitation standards are met across all operations.
  • Team Management: Leading, mentoring, and delegating effectively to a kitchen team, setting the pace for a high-performance environment.

What We Need: The Culinary Leader

We’re looking for an experienced professional who can demonstrate a unique blend of creativity, financial acumen, and strong leadership.

Minimum Requirements & Expertise:

  • Education: Matric and a Professional Qualification in Culinary Arts are essential.
  • Experience: 3–5 years of previous Executive Chef experience within a 4 or 5-Star environment is required.
  • Technical Skills: Proven ability to create and cost menus as well as recipes and manage kitchen orders efficiently.
  • Composure: A hands-on problem-solving approach and the ability to remain calm under pressure during high-volume service.
  • Leadership & Values: Exceptional leadership skills and the ability to delegate effectively. You must be honest and trustworthy beyond approach, possess great attention to detail, and be a Team Player who leads by example.
  • Mindset: Ability to think creatively and possess a proactive approach to kitchen management.

This is a permanent, full-time position in Sandton, offering a competitive salary of R40,000 to R45,000 per month, plus incentives.
