ECSA-HC Internship and Volunteer Programme

The East, Central and Southern Africa Health Community (ECSA-HC) is a regional intergovernmental organization established in 1974. Its membership comprises Eswatini, Kenya, Lesotho, Malawi, Mauritius, the United Republic of Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. Headquartered in Arusha, Tanzania, ECSA-HC was founded to foster regional cooperation in health and to address the health needs of its member states. It operates with a vision to be a leader in health in the region, striving to achieve the highest standards of physical, mental, and social well-being for its people.

ECSA-HC’s mission is to promote the highest standards of health through various strategic approaches. This includes advocacy, capacity building, brokerage, coordination, inter-sectoral collaboration, and the harmonization of health policies and programs across its member states. The organization works to strengthen health systems, develop human resources for health, and address critical health challenges such as communicable and non-communicable diseases, maternal and child health, and global public health security. ECSA-HC also facilitates knowledge sharing, research, and the development of specialized health colleges to enhance the training of healthcare professionals within the region.
