What You’ll Do

As a COBOL Developer in our Core Banking team, you’ll be at the heart of our technology projects, ensuring our systems are robust, efficient, and meet the highest standards. You’ll be responsible for the full development lifecycle, from design to implementation and ongoing maintenance.

Your key responsibilities will include:

• System Development and Enhancement: Design, create, and test new and enhanced applications and systems, providing technical expertise and leadership.
• Code and Compliance: Write, compile, test, and implement applications in line with the Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and ensure all processes meet legislative and audit requirements.
• Operational Excellence: Increase operational efficiency, minimize system downtime, and proactively identify and mitigate risks.
• Collaboration and Mentoring: Cultivate relationships with various stakeholders, including project managers and end-users, and provide technical assistance to fellow developers.
• Problem-Solving: Produce program specifications to address business needs, resolve queries quickly and effectively, and perform root cause analysis to prevent recurring issues.

What We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate is a curious, courageous developer with a strong foundation in programming and a desire for continuous improvement.

Essential Qualifications and Experience:

• Programming Expertise: A minimum of 5 years of experience in programming and system design.
• Technical Skills: Must have experience with COBOL and JCL. Knowledge of Java would be a significant advantage.
• Education: A B. Com, B. Eng., BSC Eng., BSC Informatics, or a related degree.
• Problem-Solving Skills: The ability to provide IT expertise, advise on system design, and manage a team of testers.
• Attention to Detail: A commitment to producing high-quality code, conducting peer reviews, and ensuring all documentation is up to standard.
