Are you a design systems maestro with a passion for scale and innovation? We have a fantastic opportunity for a Design System Designer to join our team in Johannesburg. In this hybrid role, you’ll be a key player in shaping and standardizing our design methodologies across the organization. This isn’t just about creating beautiful interfaces; it’s about empowering every team to build high-quality, consistent, and user-centric experiences.

What You’ll Do

As a Design System Designer, you’ll be instrumental in driving our design strategy. You’ll work closely with the Senior Manager Design Systems to champion and evolve our design standards for UI, UX, and service design. Your work will directly impact our ability to innovate faster, reduce costs, and improve quality.

Your core responsibilities will include:

• Championing Standards: You’ll be the advocate for our design system, ensuring it’s applied consistently and effectively across all teams.
• Building & Maintaining Libraries: You’ll be responsible for building and maintaining robust Figma component libraries and advocating for the use of design tokens to ensure our designs are scalable, accessible, and themeable.
• Empowering Non-Designers: You’ll lead the development of tools and guidelines that enable non-designers to create on-brand experiences.
• Mentorship & Collaboration: You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams, sharing your knowledge and helping to upskill team members on new tools and industry advancements.
• Driving Insights: You’ll use customer experience measurements to create actionable insights that improve our design work.

Who We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker who is also deeply passionate about the details. You have a proven track record of driving large-scale design projects and ensuring their adoption across complex organizations.

Here’s what you need to apply:

• Experience: A minimum of 5+ years of experience in design systems, product design, or UX/UI.
• Skills: Mastery of Figma and a deep understanding of design tokens. Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills are a must.
• Attributes: A passion for mentorship, collaboration, and continuous learning.

If you have experience working in a large, complex organization, that’s a definite plus!
