ROLE OVERVIEW
The Community Relations Officer is responsible for coordinating and supporting all community engagement activities to strengthen the relationship between the Company and host communities. This role involves collaboration with stakeholders to implement community development initiatives, manage communication channels, address concerns, and ensure alignment with company objectives and national/international standards. The position is key to promoting mutual understanding, trust, and sustainable development in the areas of operation.
🎯 ROLE DESCRIPTION
✅ Assisting in designing and delivering community plans within time and budget
✅ Ensuring compliance with national and international socioeconomic performance standards
✅ Monitor and evaluate community initiatives & recommend improvements
✅ Develop and oversee community development programs
✅ Keeping the community, internal staff, and stakeholders informed on project progress
✅ Building and maintaining strong relationships with local government, leaders, and partner institutions
✅ Identify & address emerging issues and concerns; escalating issues as needed
✅ Operating and improving the community grievance mechanism, ensuring timely resolution
✅ Developing clear communication strategies to increase understanding of mine operations
✅ Facilitating regular meetings between mine management and external stakeholders
✅ Review requests for community investments in line with long-term goals
✅ Fostering collaboration with the government and NGOs
✅ Promoting safety across community and operational areas
✅ Encouraging community ownership and involvement in development initiatives
✅ Provide platforms for community voices to be heard and respected
REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
🎓 Education
🔹 Bachelor’s degree in Business, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, or a related field
🔹 Valid Driving Licence required
💼 Experience
🔹 Minimum 3 years in a similar role (mining industry experience preferred)
🔹 Background in community development, stakeholder relations, and relocation planning
