We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented FNOL Claims Consultant to serve as the critical first point of contact in our claims process.
Role Purpose
The FNOL Claims Consultant is responsible for the timely and accurate registration of new claims received from brokers and service providers, ensuring compliance with all Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
This role requires excellent customer service skills, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to operate effectively and calmly within a high-volume, fast-paced environment. You will be instrumental in setting the standard for the client claims journey.
Core Duties & Responsibilities
Claims Intake and Verification
- First Notice of Loss (FNOL): Receive and process all new claims submitted via the designated mailbox, ensuring registration is completed within the stipulated SLA.
- Information Verification: Verify and capture essential policy and incident data, including policy details, incident date/time, address, description of loss, and claimant contact information.
- Documentation & Data Entry: Accurately enter all claim details into the Ski claims system, ensuring data is complete and consistent for seamless subsequent processing.
- Compliance: Follow up with claimants to obtain any missing information or documentation required to complete the registration process.
Initial Assessment and Coordination
- Service Provider Appointment: Appoint the relevant service provider at the registration stage, provided all necessary information is available and initial cover is confirmed.
- Risk Identification: Conduct an initial assessment to identify potential red flags, such as suspected fraudulent claims or immediate coverage issues, and escalate as necessary.
- Routing: Route registered claims to the appropriate Claims Technicians or specialized departments based on the type and severity of the loss.
- Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with internal teams, including underwriting, to clarify coverage issues or policy details as required.
Compliance and Quality
- Ensure all claims handling and documentation adhere to company policies, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for this role include: Accuracy of data entry, number of claims registered per shift, and strict compliance with all regulatory and internal standards.
Requirements
Experience and Qualifications
- Qualification: Diploma or equivalent (required). NQF Level 4 qualification in Insurance (required).
- Experience: 1–2 years of experience in customer service, insurance, or claims handling (preferred).
Competencies
- Customer Service: Strong customer orientation with demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and stressful situations with empathy and professionalism.
- Attention to Detail: Meticulous approach to data entry and documentation, ensuring a high level of accuracy is maintained.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with claimants, brokers, and internal teams.
- Operational Skills: Proficiency in using claims systems, Microsoft Office, and other relevant technical tools.
- Efficiency: Strong time management skills, with proven ability to prioritize and manage a high volume of work.
