Chief Financial Officer (CFO) – Strategic Financial Leadership Opportunity

Are you a visionary leader with a passion for driving financial excellence and organisational growth? Our client is seeking an experienced Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join their dynamic leadership team and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the organisation.


About the Role

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, the CFO will oversee key support service departments — Finance, Human Resources, and Quality & Compliance. This strategic leadership role ensures operational efficiency, financial sustainability, and compliance, while driving long-term growth and impact.


Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Drive strategic planning, budgeting, and business plan development.
  • Develop and implement policies and initiatives that support organisational growth and sustainability.
  • Build and empower high-performing teams through strong leadership, coaching, and training.
  • Ensure full compliance with legal, regulatory, and corporate governance standards.

Financial Management

  • Oversee financial controls, reporting, and audits in compliance with IFRS standards.
  • Lead annual budgeting and monitor progress against strategic objectives.
  • Manage cash flow planning, liquidity, treasury operations, and relationships with funders.
  • Optimise loan asset portfolio performance and strengthen risk management strategies.

Human Resources Leadership

  • Provide strategic direction for recruitment, talent management, and workforce planning.
  • Drive a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Quality & Compliance Oversight

  • Ensure adherence to credit policies and regulatory standards through effective monitoring.
  • Lead risk management and compliance initiatives to support financial sustainability.

Systems Optimisation

  • Implement systems, controls, and procedures to enhance efficiency across departments.
  • Promote automation and digital integration to improve workflows and decision-making.

Qualifications & Experience

  • CA(SA) or equivalent professional qualification.
  • Minimum 10 years’ senior management or executive experience overseeing Finance, HR, Procurement, Compliance, or Loan Portfolio functions.
  • Strong understanding of IFRS, South African regulatory frameworks, and governance practices.
  • Proven success in financial control, systems optimisation, and portfolio risk management.
