About the Role

Hilton Durban is seeking a Chief Accountant to serve as a trusted advisor to the finance team and other hotel business partners. This role supports the Finance Lead in developing best-in-class finance professionals, maintaining strong financial controls, and ensuring compliance. The Chief Accountant also contributes to maximizing hotel profitability and implementing EMEA Operations Finance innovations and projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure smooth operation of all hotel finance activities in compliance with policies, regulations, and contracts.
• Support the Finance Lead by reviewing financial performance, ensuring timely and accurate reporting, and managing month-end closing activities.
• Prepare and review monthly financial statements in accordance with GAAP, the Uniform System of Accounts, and Hilton policies.
• Partner with hotel finance team members and the Hotel Management team, supporting collaboration across Commercial, IT, Procurement, Operations, and Shared Service Centers.
• Assume Finance Lead responsibilities in their absence.
• Participate in relevant finance training and development programs.

Requirements

• Strong judgment and decision-making skills.
• Excellent written, verbal, and analytical skills, with the ability to manage large volumes of financial data accurately.
• Ability to work under pressure, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple responsibilities.
• Capable of learning and performing all essential job functions with minimal supervision.

Preferred:

• University degree in Accounting or Finance.
• Knowledge of Tower operations, including all related aspects.
