The Core of Your Role: Daily Financial Control

As the Depot Cashier, you’ll report directly to the Depot Controller and be solely responsible for the safe and accurate handling of daily transactions.

Your primary goal is ensuring all funds received from drivers are counted, processed, and prepared for banking accurately and securely every day.

Key Responsibilities Include:

• Cash Handling and Reconciliation: You will receive and recount cash and cheques from drivers and process payments against the correct driver as per the receipt.
• Daily Balancing: You must make up the bank deposit, ensuring that the cash-up summary balances daily without fail, keeping cash shortages to an absolute minimum.
• Security and Compliance: Your responsibilities include preparing the deposit, recording cash and cheques, logging seal numbers in the register, and ensuring that the cash office door is locked at all times. You are also responsible for locking cash in the safe overnight and ensuring the previous day’s takings are removed from the premises in a timely manner.

What We Need From You

To succeed in this vital role, you’ll need a strong administrative background, a head for numbers, and an unwavering commitment to security and procedure.

Minimum Requirements:

• Education: Grade 12 certificate with passes in Maths & Accounting is essential.
• Experience: 2 – 3 years’ experience as a cashier, bank teller, or in a similar general office financial role.
• Skills: Strong computer literacy is required, including proficiency in Word, Excel, and Syspro (or similar accounting/ERP software).
