About the Role
As a Business Banker, your purpose is to grow and maintain a portfolio of business clients. You’ll be responsible for identifying and implementing specialized business banking solutions, drawing from both our standard and customized product offerings. Your role will involve providing exceptional sales and service, ensuring our business clients have the financial products they need to succeed.
What We’re Looking For
Experience
- Minimum:
- At least 3 years of banking experience.
- Experience managing a portfolio of business customers with a focus on service and financial analysis.
- Experience in preparing and motivating credit applications.
- Experience with cost control and sales management.
- Ideal:
- 1+ years spent in a Business Banking environment, specifically preparing and motivating credit applications.
Qualifications
- Minimum: A Diploma in Commerce or Finance.
- Ideal: FAIS accredited as a Key Individual and approved by the FSCA.
Knowledge
- Minimum:
- Customer Relationship Management (CRM) principles and techniques.
- How to interpret financial statements, balance sheets, and basic financial ratios.
- Standardized business banking products relevant to small enterprises.
- Understanding of collateral and balance sheets.
- Knowledge of different legal entities (companies, close corporations, etc.) and the legislative requirements governing them (e.g., Companies and Intellectual Properties Registration Act).
- Knowledge of competitor offerings and regulations like FAIS and FICA.
- Ideal:
- Features and benefits of various company product/service offerings.
- Current taxation laws as they apply to customers.
- Administration processes related to Business Banking transactions.
Key Skills
- Relationship Management & Communication: Interpersonal and communication skills are essential for building trust with clients.
- Financial & Strategic Thinking: Analytical, commercial, and strategic thinking skills to solve problems and negotiate effectively.
- Detail-Oriented & Problem-Solving: A keen eye for detail and strong problem-solving skills for managing complex financial situations.
- Computer Literacy: Proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Outlook.
