Purpose of the Role

The Branch Consultant / Financial Advisor is responsible for promoting Sanlam Retail Mass (SRM) products and growing market share through:

  • Delivering professional financial advice and exceptional client service within a branch environment.
  • Identifying opportunities for client optimisation and cross-selling of value-added services.

Key Responsibilities

1. Sales Delivery

  • Develop a strong understanding of the full SRM product range.
  • Identify customer needs, financial goals, and available means to recommend suitable products.
  • Continuously inform clients about new or updated products and manage portfolio adjustments accordingly.
  • Validate client details and ensure regulatory and product compliance.
  • Submit new business through the appropriate channels and conduct due diligence to identify potential risks.
  • Manage time effectively to balance scheduled appointments with walk-in clients.

2. In-Branch Client Service & Retention

  • Manage all client profiles to ensure ongoing engagement and retention.
  • Conduct regular follow-ups, send payment reminders, and address queries promptly.
  • Monitor and manage NTUs (Not Taken Up policies) through proactive controls and corrective measures.
  • Maintain strong payment persistency for client and branch benefit.
  • Advise clients on alternative payment options where needed and record all arrangements.
  • Provide excellent in-branch service by guiding clients on policy changes, cancellations, or alternative solutions.
  • Resolve queries efficiently or escalate through the proper channels, ensuring consistent client feedback.

3. Quality, Compliance & Continuous Development

  • Stay updated on compliance and quality standards.
  • Maintain FAIS registration, relevant training, and CPD points.
  • Identify and report potential risks or fraudulent activity.
  • Keep accurate records of all client advice and transactions.
  • Log all activities and provide required data for reporting and business insights.

4. Monthly Planning & Reporting

  • Report daily on activities using the company’s digital platforms.
  • Consolidate weekly and monthly reports to meet deadlines.
  • Assist with any ad-hoc tasks assigned by the Retail Branch Manager.

Qualifications

  • Matric (Grade 12) – essential
  • RE5 – advantageous
  • FAIS Compliant (Wealth Management) as per DOFA requirements
  • Class of Business Training – to be completed within 12 months of employment
