The Role

We are seeking a proactive and client-focused Branch Consultant to drive sales delivery, client service, and retention within our Newcastle retail branch. This role is instrumental in promoting Sanlam Retail Mass (SRM) products, increasing market share through sound financial advice, and identifying opportunities for client optimization and cross-selling value-added services.

Key Responsibilities (What You Will Do)

  • Sales Delivery: Promote Sanlam Retail Mass (SRM) products and strategically increase market share by providing high-quality financial advice.

  • Client Service: Take full responsibility for in-branch client service delivery and client retention efforts.

  • Optimization: Actively create opportunities for client optimization and the cross-selling of value-added services and products.

  • Compliance & Risk: Ensure adherence to all regulatory and internal compliance standards, quality assurance procedures, and effective risk management within the branch.

  • Planning & Reporting: Conduct monthly planning and detailed reporting on sales and service activities performed within the Branch.

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Identify key internal and external stakeholders (Area Managers, Business Owners, community forums, etc.) and implement effective engagement tactics to build and maintain strong relationships crucial for business development.

Minimum Requirements and Knowledge

Experience & Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience in a sales or marketing capacity.

    • Advantageous: Experience working within insurance branches.

  • Education: Matric (Grade 12) is mandatory.

  • Compliance: Must be FAIS Compliant (Wealth Management) as per DOFA requirements.

    • Advantageous: RE5 certification.

Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies

  • Sales Acumen: Proven sales, cross-selling, and influencing skills, with a persistent focus on achieving targets.

  • Industry Knowledge: Understanding of the insurance landscape, including regulatory requirements and guidelines for selling and providing financial advice. (Product knowledge is advantageous).

  • Client Focus: Strong customer service orientation and client service skills.

  • Cognitive Skills: Strong critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

  • Professional Skills: Strong communication skills (both verbally and in writing), excellent organizing skills, and an adaptable approach to learning.

  • Technology: Technologically orientated.
