What You’ll Do

As a Blood Bank Technologist, you will be a key member of our team at the Chris Hani Business Unit. Your work will directly contribute to the quality and safety of blood transfusions.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Routine Testing: Perform a range of essential tests, including compatibility testing, postnatal investigations, and preliminary transfusion reaction investigations.
  • Quality Assurance: Accurately check and verify test results performed by other team members, ensuring all work meets our rigorous quality standards.
  • Operational Support: Contribute to overall operational objectives, including instrument and laboratory maintenance, and adhere to all quality and risk protocols.
  • Team Collaboration: Work as part of a dedicated team, engaging with colleagues to share knowledge and provide excellent customer service.

What We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate is a detail-conscious professional with a strong technical background and a commitment to excellence.

Essential Qualifications and Experience:

  • HPCSA Registered Medical Technologist specializing in Blood Transfusion.
  • Experience as required for HPCSA registration as a Medical Technologist in Blood Transfusion.
  • Proficiency in laboratory skills and blood grouping skills.

Required Personal Attributes:

  • Attention to Detail: A meticulous and analytical mindset is crucial for this role.
  • Flexibility: The role requires flexibility, including night shift and weekend duties as part of a roster, as well as occasional travel.
  • Communication: Strong communication skills are essential for effective teamwork and knowledge sharing.
  • Ethical Behavior: A commitment to ethical conduct and professional integrity.

This is a full-time, permanent position with a starting remuneration of R416,307.00.
