Position Summary
Herolim Private Hospital has a vacancy for a Billings Clerk who will report to the Patient Administration Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing medical aid billing by accurately gathering, coding, and submitting patient care information to ensure maximum revenue collection for all admissions.
Key Responsibilities
- Apply ICD-10 codes, CPT codes, and all medical aid tariffs and billing rules.
- Manage daily billing for all inpatient and outpatient accounts (including Letters of Concession, equipment, and stock).
- Ensure timely closure and release of discharged patient accounts.
- Monitor the receipt of discharged files and report any delays.
- Assist with the final audit of all patient accounts before release.
- Monitor the release system to ensure all submissions are complete.
- Liaise with ward, pharmacy, and theatre staff to obtain correct CPT codes, stock codes, equipment details, theatre time, and procedural information.
- Maintain regular and effective communication with all members of the multi-disciplinary team.
- Ensure complete and efficient billing for all patient accounts requiring prostheses.
- Identify and report risk areas to management.
Requirements
- Education: Grade 12 or equivalent qualification. A nursing qualification is preferred.
- Experience: Previous experience in a hospital billing department is essential.
- Knowledge & Skills:
- Thorough understanding of the private healthcare industry, including Medical Scheme rules and regulations.
- Proficiency in ICD-10 coding.
- Knowledge of Hospital Information Systems.
- Computer proficiency.
