Are you an underwriting expert with a keen eye for detail and a passion for ensuring quality and compliance? Hollard Insure is seeking a dedicated Assurance Specialist to join our Insure Governance team in Parktown, Gauteng. This is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned professional to play a key role in maintaining the integrity of our underwriting processes across all partners.
What the Role Involves
As an Assurance Specialist, you’ll be the guardian of our underwriting standards. You’ll be responsible for evaluating the processes, controls, and competence of our binder partners, ensuring they align with Hollard’s high standards. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Underwriting Audits: Performing due diligence and process reviews to ensure our partners adhere to our underwriting guidelines for both Personal & Commercial lines.
- Compliance & Quality Control: Identifying areas for improvement, rating findings, and producing detailed reports with recommended remedial actions.
- Training & Development: Developing and delivering IISA-approved training to current and new partners on underwriting best practices and standard operating procedures.
- Stakeholder Management: Building and managing strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders, and providing feedback to Hollard Insure’s Exco.
- Market Intelligence: Staying on top of market trends and legislative changes that influence the underwriting function.
This role requires a proactive approach and a deep understanding of the short-term insurance landscape.
Are You the Right Fit?
We’re looking for a highly skilled and experienced professional who is a master of their craft. The ideal candidate will have:
- At least 8 years of technical underwriting experience in personal and commercial lines.
- In-depth knowledge of underwriting processes and short-term insurance products, including Commercial, Agricultural, Marine, Aviation, and Liability products.
- An ACII or equivalent qualification, with a desire to pursue further studies.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience in leadership training and a strong understanding of compliance and legislation.
- RE qualifications (Rep & KI).
