Overview
The Human Capital Business Partner will plan, organize, and oversee HR processes and resources to ensure the business is equipped with the right talent. This role facilitates talent acquisition, performance management, employee development, engagement, retention, and separation processes in collaboration with stakeholders to achieve business goals and objectives.
Requirements
Education & Background
- Bachelor’s Degree or National Diploma in Human Resources or related field.
- 5–8 years’ experience as a Human Capital Business Partner or Manager in a manufacturing and unionized environment.
- 5–8 years’ experience leading a Human Capital team.
- Proven experience in People Budget preparation and Workforce Planning.
- Strong knowledge of South African labour legislation (LRA, BCEA, Skills Development, Employment Equity Act).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook (intermediate level or higher).

Key Responsibilities
Talent Acquisition
- Drive and support recruitment activities aligned with Employment Equity (EE) targets, business goals, and standard operating procedures.
Performance & Talent Management
- Educate and coach line managers on performance tools.
- Ensure KPAs and KPIs are established for all employees.
- Facilitate bi-annual performance reviews per the Performance Management Plan.
- Manage actions addressing poor performance and absenteeism.
- Collaborate with management to identify critical skills gaps and implement succession and retention strategies.
Employee Relations
- Advise on disciplinary processes and corrective actions.
- Coordinate grievance and appeal processes.
- Ensure consistent application of the company’s Disciplinary Code of Conduct.
- Maintain effective relationships with shop stewards and line management.
Employee Engagement & Retention
- Communicate and educate line managers on HR policies and processes.
- Support and advise managers on HR-related matters.
- Oversee employee offboarding processes to ensure minimal operational disruption.
- Facilitate recognition and engagement initiatives.
Planning & Processes
- Oversee HR-related audits and ensure compliance with internal and external requirements.
Reporting
- Compile and provide HR reports on a weekly and monthly basis.
- Coordinate data gathering and maintain data integrity across HR databases.
- Maintain up-to-date organograms and job profiles within HR systems.
