We are looking for a Data Analyst to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for collecting, analysing, interpreting, and reporting on data to support the development of business strategies, performance tracking, and operational improvements.


Job Purpose

The Data Analyst will extract, manipulate, and explore data from various internal and external sources to generate insights that support decision-making. This includes performing data quality checks, building dashboards and reports, and ensuring reliable data interpretation for business use.


Key Responsibilities

Data Analysis

  • Extract, manipulate, and explore data from multiple sources.
  • Conduct data quality checks and validate analytical results.
  • Analyse datasets to support business needs and decision-making.
  • Liaise with data delivery and technical teams to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Build reports and dashboards that effectively communicate insights.

Business Requirements Identification

  • Gather and analyse business requirements using interviews, document analysis, and workshops.
  • Translate business needs into data insights that align with user goals and strategic objectives.

Data Exploration & Manipulation

  • Conduct research and use business intelligence tools to perform exploratory data analysis.
  • Identify patterns, themes, and trends within datasets to guide business strategy.

Advanced Analytics

  • Support the interpretation of advanced analytics data using statistical and analytical tools.
  • Provide data-driven recommendations to support business initiatives.

Performance Improvement through Business Intelligence

  • Perform root cause analyses to identify system and process improvement opportunities.
  • Recommend strategies to optimize data management and analytical processes.

Insights and Reporting

  • Prepare reports and dashboards to help answer key business questions.
  • Present insights clearly to internal stakeholders, ensuring actionable outcomes.

Data Architecture

  • Consult with stakeholders to standardize and streamline data recording practices.
  • Promote data integrity and consistency across business units.

Data Collection and Analysis

  • Independently collate and analyse data using established tools and techniques.
  • Ensure compliance with internal data management and quality standards.

Personal Capability Building

  • Actively participate in professional development, training, and coaching.
  • Stay updated with industry trends, technologies, and best practices.
  • Manage personal time, tasks, and deliverables effectively while maintaining high-quality outputs.

Minimum Requirements

  • Education: NQF Level 7 – Degree, Advanced Diploma, or Postgraduate Certificate (or equivalent qualification).
  • Experience: Proven experience in data analysis, reporting, and business intelligence functions.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Data manipulation and extraction (SQL, R, SAS, or similar).
    • Strong Excel and BI tool proficiency (Power BI or similar).
    • Experience with data visualization and dashboard creation.
    • Understanding of data quality control and governance principles.
