Job Description

The Orion Group is seeking an experienced and hands-on Fleet Manager to oversee and efficiently manage our fleet of approximately 70 commercial vehicles (consisting of cars, minibuses, etc.).

This is a dynamic, operations-focused role requiring strong administrative acumen and a solid technical understanding of vehicles. The ideal candidate will have significant experience managing a non-trucking commercial vehicle fleet.

Key Responsibilities

  • Fleet Operations & Maintenance:
    • Manage the daily operations and maintenance schedules for the fleet.
    • Oversee the performance and work of the on-site mechanic, leveraging a strong personal knowledge of vehicle mechanics/technical aspects.
    • Respond promptly to vehicle breakdowns and accidents, including site visits where necessary.
  • Administration & Compliance:
    • Manage all administrative functions related to the fleet, including vehicle registrations, road fines, and regulatory compliance.
    • Handle all aspects of accident claims and investigations, including drafting comprehensive reports.
  • Staff and Travel:
    • Manage and lead operational staff associated with the fleet.
    • Conduct occasional travel to various company sites, which may require out-of-province trips from time to time.

Requirements

  • Proven, strong experience as a Fleet Manager, specifically managing a commercial vehicle fleet (not logistics or heavy-duty trucking).
  • Excellent administrative skills with a background in managing claims, accident investigations, vehicle registrations, and fines.
  • Strong technical knowledge of vehicle mechanics is essential.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage staff effectively.
  • Must possess a valid Driver’s License and have access to own reliable transportation (vehicle essential).
