About the Role

The Solution Architect will design and implement integration components such as microservices while managing Java/Java EE application development. The role involves providing expertise throughout the software development lifecycle—from concept and design to testing—and driving modernization to ensure cloud readiness, efficiency, and alignment with business goals.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement information systems and integration solutions that align with enterprise infrastructure and business needs.
• Develop and maintain integration designs and architectural patterns supporting Old Mutual’s business and IT strategy.
• Champion a Cloud First Integration Architecture approach.
• Lead API, microservices, and ESB solution development and ensure alignment with application, infrastructure, and security teams.
• Mentor development and integration teams and oversee code reviews and troubleshooting.
• Document architectural designs and ensure compliance with governance standards.
• Manage cloud environment design, deployment, monitoring, and security.
• Align integration strategies with enterprise cloud initiatives.
• Conduct impact analysis, root-cause assessment, and problem prevention strategies.
• Promote standardization and reuse of existing integration components.
• Ensure scalability, usability, and performance in solution design.
• Lead the development of microservices using JAX-RS and related technologies.
• Apply strong object-oriented design principles and ensure optimal Java/JEE system performance.
• Drive change management strategies to enhance user adoption and ROI.

Experience, Knowledge & Skills

• Bachelor’s degree (Master’s or TOGAF certification advantageous).
• 8–12 years in enterprise application and middleware integration.
• 8–10 years in IT integration (insurance industry experience preferred).
• 5–8 years Java/J2EE development (servlets, JSP, JSF, JDBC).
• Strong experience with DevOps tools: Git, Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes.
• Proven skills in microservices, REST/SOAP web services, SQL optimization, and concurrency management.
• Proficiency with tools such as Eclipse, Maven, Sonar, Azure DevOps.
• Knowledge of API Gateways, security best practices, agile methodologies, and quality assurance.

Optional Additional Skills

• Cloud design and deployment (AWS, Oracle Cloud, Azure).
• Cross-platform system proficiency (Windows, Mac, Linux).
• Cloud infrastructure management and service optimization.
