About the Role

Nedbank is seeking an IT Operational Risk Manager to develop, implement, and monitor the Operational Risk Management Framework across the bank and its subsidiaries. This position ensures compliance with regulatory standards while aligning operations with international best practices.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide risk advisory and support across IT projects and processes, including risk assessments and issue tracking.
  • Present operational risk insights at executive forums and participate in strategic initiatives.
  • Drive and embed a strong risk culture through stakeholder engagement and committee participation.
  • Ensure compliance with internal risk frameworks, policies, and training mandates.
  • Deliver on Group Operational Risk Management (GORM) strategies in line with BASEL and the Banks Act.
  • Enhance operational risk methodologies, frameworks, and policies to improve effectiveness.
  • Monitor and analyse major operational risk losses and control breakdowns.
  • Identify and assess potential future operational risk impacts from regulatory changes.
  • Compile internal reports and contribute to external risk disclosures.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, regulators, and assurance providers to manage operational risk effectively.
  • Provide advisory support on aligning risk appetite, capital requirements, and business objectives.
  • Contribute to Nedbank’s transformation, culture, and CSI initiatives.

Technical Expertise

Qualifications

  • Advanced Diploma or National First Degree
