We’re looking for an Executive: Digital Product — a visionary leader who will drive the end-to-end lifecycle of digital products, ensuring they deliver seamless user experiences, commercial growth, and measurable impact.
🌟 Job Summary
As the Executive: Digital Product, you will lead digital strategy, product design, and delivery — from conception to retirement. You’ll champion agile methodologies, customer-centric innovation, and data-driven decision-making to deliver world-class digital products aligned with Absa’s business vision.
Your mission: Create and scale digital solutions that delight users, drive adoption, and strengthen Absa’s competitive advantage across markets.
🔑 Key Responsibilities
1. Strategy & Execution
- Develop and execute digital product strategies within commercial and regulatory frameworks.
- Translate strategic objectives into clear product roadmaps, delivery milestones, and success metrics.
- Align product design and delivery with enterprise transformation goals.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure strategies are measurable and actionable.
- Champion agile product delivery methodologies to accelerate innovation and value creation.
2. Customer-Centric Digital Solutions
- Lead customer-first product development, integrating user feedback and analytics to enhance experience.
- Ensure all digital products deliver high-quality, intuitive, and consistent user experiences.
- Monitor market trends and customer data to identify opportunities for new features and enhancements.
- Drive digital adoption and retention through exceptional service and value delivery.
3. Innovation & Change Leadership
- Cultivate a culture of experimentation, innovation, and continuous improvement across digital teams.
- Leverage emerging technologies to design competitive, future-ready products.
- Champion design thinking and agile innovation to transform customer journeys.
- Serve as the voice of the customer in executive forums to influence strategic priorities.
4. Sustainable Growth
- Develop a strategic product roadmap focused on ROI, customer needs, and long-term value.
- Track and optimize product performance — including adoption, revenue, NPS, and retention.
- Drive expansion, diversification, and scaling of digital products to meet evolving market demands.
- Partner with business units to integrate growth strategies and ensure delivery of financial and customer outcomes.
5. Leadership & Talent Development
- Build and mentor high-performing, cross-functional digital teams with expertise in UX, analytics, and agile delivery.
- Foster collaboration, inclusivity, and innovation within teams.
- Empower future product leaders through coaching, stretch assignments, and development opportunities.
- Promote a strong leadership culture that balances performance, wellbeing, and growth.
6. Operational Excellence
- Establish robust governance frameworks for product quality and delivery efficiency.
- Use data-driven performance metrics to guide decisions and identify improvements.
- Manage budgets, resources, and cross-functional dependencies to ensure seamless execution.
- Continuously improve delivery velocity, agility, and operational alignment with digital goals.
7. Governance, Risk & Compliance
- Embed governance and compliance across all product development stages.
- Mitigate product-related risks and ensure adherence to regulatory and quality standards.
- Support audit readiness and implement integrated governance frameworks.
8. Data Monetisation & Analytics
- Harness data insights from product usage to inform strategic decision-making.
- Develop mechanisms to collect, analyse, and leverage customer interaction data for innovation.
- Identify data-driven opportunities for new products and business growth.
🎓 Qualifications & Experience
- Education:
- Postgraduate Degree (Honours, Postgraduate Diploma, or Professional Qualification) — NQF 8.
- Fields: Business Information Systems, Computer Science, Digital Product Design, or related.
- Experience:
- 12–15 years in digital product leadership, with 5+ years in senior management within a large enterprise.
- Proven record of leading digital transformation and customer-centric innovation.
- Experience managing cross-functional teams, budgets, and enterprise-level product portfolios.
- Strong exposure to data-driven strategy, agile delivery, and stakeholder management.
