About the Role

A leading Cape Town-based data analytics and consulting firm is seeking talented Junior Data Analysts to join their hybrid team. This role is ideal for aspiring data professionals with a passion for BI, cloud data services, and analytics.

You will contribute to Azure-first data solutions and Power BI reporting, helping clients across industries turn raw data into actionable insights. The position involves end-to-end data pipeline management, building robust dashboards, and applying best practices in data modeling and visualization.

Key Responsibilities

🧹 Data Preparation & Modelling

• Clean, consolidate, and structure data using Azure SQL, Data Factory, and Fabric.
• Apply dimensional modelling techniques, including facts, dimensions, relationships, and incremental refresh.
• Design and implement full data flows from ingestion to semantic models powering reports.

📊 Power BI Reporting & Analytics

• Develop high-performance DAX measures, including Row-Level Security (RLS) and time intelligence.
• Validate statistical or predictive methods as required.
• Troubleshoot the full analytics pipeline for performance, data quality, and calculation errors.

🔧 Process & Project Management

• Translate stakeholder requirements into concrete backlog items and functional dashboards.
• Lead workshops, document decisions, and manage deployment to production.
• Follow Git-based workflows for code promotion (Dev/Test/Prod).

🌐 Hybrid & Client Engagement

• Work flexibly in a hybrid environment with occasional travel to client sites for process walkthroughs and commissioning.

Requirements

✅ 2+ years in BI/Analytics, with Power BI, DAX, and SQL as core tools.
✅ Hands-on experience with Azure Data Services (Data Factory, Fabric, Azure SQL).
✅ Strong dimensional modelling skills.
✅ Ability to troubleshoot full pipelines and deliver high-quality dashboards.
✅ Experience with Git-based workflows and promotion pipelines.
✅ Exposure to Databricks/Spark or Python for data prep and validation.
✅ Familiarity with CI/CD for Power BI (Deployment Pipelines, PBIP, semantic-model versioning).
✅ Relevant Microsoft certifications: PL-300, DP-500, DP-203 preferred.
