🌟 The Opportunity
This role focuses on the management, maintenance, analysis, and interpretation of portfolio data within a diversified credit investment portfolio. The portfolio includes South African corporates, municipalities, state-owned entities, leveraged buyouts, project finance, property, securitisation transactions, and developed market credit.
You’ll play a key role in credit and financial data analysis, economic capital modelling, and risk metric development, providing essential input to inform high-level investment decisions across the organisation.
đź§ Key Responsibilities
- Conduct quantitative credit investment analysis using Excel-based tools and Moody’s RiskFrontier to evaluate capital requirements and returns.
- Develop, maintain, and enhance internal rating scorecards.
- Build, validate, and recalibrate internal models to generate Probability of Default (PD), Loss Given Default (LGD), and Economic Capital metrics.
- Perform detailed portfolio analysis to generate meaningful insights for management and key stakeholders.
- Apply deep financial modelling expertise to structured loans, derivatives, and other credit instruments.
🎓 Qualifications & Experience
Required Education:
- B.Sc. (preferably Honours) majoring in one or more of the following:
Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, or other Pure/Applied Science fields; OR - B.Com / B.Bus.Sci. (preferably Honours) majoring in Actuarial Science, Operations Research, Finance, Economics, or Econometrics.
Experience & Skills:
- Strong proficiency in quantitative analysis and data modelling.
- Experience with credit risk and capital models.
- Familiarity with tools like Moody’s RiskFrontier or equivalent analytics software.
- Advanced Excel and statistical capabilities.
